Here's another very old recording found on a tape that came with a not-working Ferrograph reel to reel recorder. ( never did get it working - I don't understand the old "tube" technology )

It's probably from around 1962 or 63. I'm guessing it was made somewhere in the Sheffield area.

What blows my mind the most about it is the actual time frame reference through the songs the kids are trying to sing. Obviously what was on the radio at the time. It ends with a passing 2-stroke motor scooter.

It starts quietly with 'Mum' or 'Dad' trying to record a bird that's just flown away.

When I first started messing about with multitracking/mixing software I didn't really know what I was trying to do with it. Not a whole lot has changed there.

I put together something I simply called Woodstock. It's a cross between a music mix and a 'documentary'.

If you fancy a listen to something that takes you right back there to woodstock 69 festival, this will do it quite well:

In early September I put together a mix I decided to call Rockin' Trance. I'd been doing quite a lot fo Trance ( vocal trance ) music listening for a while before that. 'Genre' isn't usually how I carve up my definitions of music I like, and I get a lot of pleasure and inspiration from some unlikely areas of music.

This mix selects the rockiest vibe I could find in the general genre of vocal trance, even tho' the opening tune isn't the clearest definition of that vibe. I liked the early part of a tune called "Concrete Angels" so much I put it in twice

A sudden guitar hairies feeling came over me and I selected this track from my hard drive.

    Here's the youtube version.

it betrays how unoriginal my own bursts of red hot fretting were

    . . . . then youtube followed up with this . . . .

    I've posted this before.

No matter how many times I reject this for it's very crap audio quality ( and I do, when I'm putting mixes together ), I can never ignore it's pure genius. If I'd wriiten this song myself, I'd be very proud of it, forever.

Jackson surely should and rightly IS:

I just made this Christmas mix for my local. It feels a bit better than the usual Christmas music wallpaper.

A couple of years ago I made this Christmas Morning Chill mix, which is very different from the one above:

    . . . . . . and . . . . . .

Many years ago I made this quite hectic [kind-of] Christmas album I called "The Unpublishable Christmas Album". It's definitely got Christmas in there somewhere but not in any way you are likely to have heard before.

A couple of old Styx anthems with a twelve-string guitar and a mandolin in the forefront. This stuff never gets old.

The process is fascinating me more than the archival body of work, right now.

Maybe it means I'm tuning my mind up to get a bit of creativity going again. I'm pretty certain I won't be doing much of the things I used to do though. I'm mostly interested in finding out how much I can remove from music before it vanishes completely. My 10 years of increasingly loving 'psychedelic' progressive electronic music don't match up at all with the content of these 2 videos, but the process and interaction is all good stuff to be refreshing myself with.

My current favorite band has just released a new album, "Dreamtime Physics".

Entheogenic seem to have grown from a kind of bedroom computer music outfit into a proper band, and hardly put a foot wrong along the way.

    Love this stuff . . . .

Super hi-fi listening kit almost 'required'.

Their last album "A Singularity Encoded" was pretty damned special. I think this band is a real "sleeper" that's waiting to be 'discovered' by a mass audience and will become a "Pink Floyd" in the future. PF made a lot of albums before Dark Side of the Moon made them a household name.

If I have one criticism, it's that I could do with a bit less crashing and banging, for my taste. This new one has a bit less than the last one.
